The new energy policy has been implemented, leading to a rapid decline in renewable energy prices. As of March 13, 2025, the prices for some renewable energy components have dropped significantly over the past month. The new energy policy aims to enhance the efficiency of renewable energy usage while ensuring that the market remains stable.
On March 11, the National Development and Reform Commission, in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy, released a report indicating that the price of electricity generated from renewable resources has seen a decrease, particularly highlighted by the “531” benchmark. As of March 2, there are still 79 days until the new energy pricing system is fully implemented.
The new pricing system is set to adjust and optimize the electricity market, with the aim of making renewable energy more competitive. The pricing mechanism will be reviewed every six months, starting from June 1, 2025, which is a critical juncture for the new pricing policies.
Following the implementation of the “531” policy, future adjustments to pricing will be based on market conditions. In January, the National Energy Administration also released the “Regulations on the Development and Construction of Distributed Renewable Energy,” which aim to clarify the guidelines for various pricing models.
In a simplified overview, two main policies are being promoted to enhance the development of renewable energy. These policies are expected to drive significant changes in the market, particularly in terms of electricity pricing and distribution.
Recent reports from companies involved in renewable energy production indicate that there is an ongoing trend towards increasing efficiency and reducing costs. For instance, companies have reported that their electricity prices are stabilizing at around 0.75 CNY/W, with some achieving rates as low as 0.80 CNY/W.
As of March 12, a new report from InfoLink Consulting showed that the average price for TOPCon solar cells has reached approximately 0.73 CNY/W, reflecting a slight decrease compared to previous weeks.
In summary, the renewable energy sector is poised for significant changes as policies are enacted to ensure competitiveness and sustainability. The upcoming months will be critical in observing how these policies influence the market dynamics and pricing structures.
