In the competitive energy storage sector, several companies in Yuyao are poised for significant advancements. Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, in collaboration with the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, and other agencies, officially released the “Action Plan for High-Quality Development of the New Energy Storage Manufacturing Industry.” This initiative marks a new phase for the new energy storage manufacturing sector in China, signaling a commitment to promoting high-quality growth in the industry.
In Yuyao City, many enterprises have already ventured into the energy storage market, leading the way in the new energy field. For example, Zhejiang Chaohua Dingguan Energy Technology Co., Ltd. has been focusing on energy storage since 2020, specializing in the research, production, sales, and operation of lithium battery storage systems for power generation, grid, commercial, and residential applications. The company has mastered key technologies in battery management systems (BMS), energy management systems (EMS), thermal management, battery safety, and system control, holding over ten invention patents and various certifications. A higher degree of integration signifies a more advanced and mature commercial energy storage solution. Their integrated cabinet, capable of recharging 233 kilowatt-hours, has reduced its size by 10% compared to similar products while improving performance by 3%. It is projected that by 2024, Chaohua Dingguan will achieve a revenue of over 90 million yuan, representing a 30% increase year-on-year.
In the past year, the company has strategically focused on microgrids and zero-carbon parks, launching an integrated system for wind, solar, and diesel storage. This product range spans integrated systems from 100 kilowatt-hours to 1.5 megawatt-hours, suitable for both grid-connected and off-grid use. It has already been successfully applied in oil fields, pastoral areas, and other scenarios, showing promising results. General Manager Liu Dayong expressed his satisfaction, noting that the integrated system took two years to develop, with an investment exceeding 5 million yuan. Liu stated that this year, the company will continue refining its microgrid integration systems and comprehensive energy management software, utilizing digital twins and AI for intelligent optimization, with the aim of becoming a leading enterprise in microgrids and new energy storage in the province, targeting a nearly 50% year-on-year revenue growth.
Besides Chaohua Dingguan, several other companies in Yuyao are embracing the new energy storage trend. Zhejiang Shenglan New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. is actively optimizing the structural design of its mobile storage cabinets, which are widely used for peak and valley electricity regulation for commercial users and integrated building energy storage. Zhejiang Jiabeisi Green Energy Co., Ltd. developed the “Industrial Power Bank” in 2022, which can deliver maximum power output for up to two hours when fully charged, saving companies nearly 500,000 yuan in electricity costs annually based on a 500KW power consumption, with options for personalized customization according to specific needs. Ningbo Fujia Industry Co., Ltd. is also prioritizing the expansion of its energy storage business as part of its strategic planning, leveraging its technological advantages to begin with residential energy storage before gradually entering the commercial energy storage market.
Currently, lithium-ion batteries remain the mainstream technology in the new energy storage sector due to their cost and technological advantages. Yuyao is home to over ten lithium battery manufacturers, including industry leader Ningbo Rongbai New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., making it one of the primary production bases for lithium-ion batteries in the region. Looking further up the supply chain, companies like Ningbo Majijia Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. provide supporting services to lithium battery R&D and manufacturing firms, also leaving a significant mark on the journey towards carbon neutrality through independent innovation.
As early as September 2023, Ningbo Shengjiu Technology Co., Ltd. established a user-side distributed energy storage station, becoming one of the first companies in the city to install and use energy storage equipment. This high-tech company focuses on the development, production, sales, and service of industrial control and industrial heat dissipation products. The energy storage station has a total installed capacity of 1 megawatt/2 megawatt-hours, consisting of ten distributed storage cabinets of 100 kilowatt/200 kilowatt-hours. It operates with a charging and discharging cycle twice daily. Preliminary estimates indicate that the energy storage station discharges approximately 1.152 million kilowatt-hours annually, generating an economic benefit of 1.08 million yuan each year. Yao Haijun, director of the company’s control division, provided these impressive figures regarding the station’s operational effectiveness. The installation of energy storage facilities not only aids companies in achieving green development but also expands the adjustable load pool of the Yuyao power grid, playing an active role in demand-side responses.
According to the city’s power supply company, there are currently 127 user-side energy storage projects in Yuyao, with a rated charging and discharging power of approximately 109.6 kilowatts. This year, several companies, including Zhejiang Dafeng Industrial Co., Ltd., are preparing to install additional energy storage devices. The new energy storage capacity in Yuyao is rapidly increasing, and moving forward, the power supply company will continue to serve as an “electricity consultant” and “electricity caretaker,” actively identifying relevant enterprises and proposing scientific energy usage plans based on big data. They aim to provide tailored services for energy storage projects, injecting “electrical power” into companies to reduce costs and enhance efficiency while promoting green development and actively advancing the establishment of a new power system centered on renewable energy.
