On March 12, the first phase of the Huaneng New Energy Hongyuan Anqu Photovoltaic Project, featuring a capacity of 52.8 megawatts, successfully connected to the grid. This milestone marks the official commissioning of Sichuan’s first networked energy storage photovoltaic power station.

Located in Hongyuan County, Aba Prefecture, the project sits at an altitude of over 4,000 meters and boasts a total installed capacity of 250 megawatts. It comprises 76 photovoltaic array areas and features the installation of 450,000 solar panels.

The project is augmented by a 50 megawatt/100 megawatt-hour lithium iron phosphate battery storage system, which can charge or discharge 100,000 kilowatt-hours within a two-hour period. Upon full capacity operations, the annual electricity generation is expected to reach 450 million kilowatt-hours, resulting in a reduction of approximately 400,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions each year.

This development is a significant step forward in enhancing renewable energy resources in the region.
