Sichuan’s First Networked Energy Storage Solar Power Plant Begins Operation, Projected to Generate 450 Million kWh Annually

Sichuans

On March 12, the first batch of 52.8 megawatts of the Huadian New Energy Hongyuan Anqu Phase I photovoltaic project successfully connected to the grid, marking the official launch of Sichuan’s first grid-connected energy storage photovoltaic power station. This project is located in Hongyuan County, Aba Prefecture, at an altitude of over 4,000 meters.

The total installed capacity of the project is 250 megawatts, consisting of 76 photovoltaic array areas and 450,000 solar panels. Additionally, a supporting lithium iron phosphate battery energy storage system with a capacity of 50 megawatts/100 megawatt-hours has been constructed, capable of charging or discharging 100,000 kilowatt-hours within two hours.

Once fully operational, the project is expected to generate an annual electricity output of 450 million kilowatt-hours, which will help reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 400,000 tons each year.
