Tongwei’s TNC High-Efficiency Module Achieves Conversion Efficiency of 25.28%! Setting a New Industry Record!
On March 20, Tongwei Co., Ltd.’s Solar Technology Center announced that, following testing by the internationally recognized certification agency TÜV, the Tongwei TNC-G12R module reached a front power output of 682.8 watts (approximately 60 watts higher than the current mainstream production power in the market) with a conversion efficiency of 25.28% at a standard size of 2382*1134mm. Meanwhile, the Tongwei TNC-G12 module achieved a power output of 778.5 watts (also about 60 watts higher than current mainstream production) and a conversion efficiency of 25.06% at a size of 2384*1303mm. This again breaks the efficiency and power records for the two mainstream TOPCon module types.
This record-breaking achievement was made possible by the Tongwei photovoltaic R&D team, utilizing techniques such as tubular PECVD poly deposition, Poly Tech, EPT passivation, and screen printing, along with optimized optical and electrical design for the modules. Additionally, the high-throughput dense packing technology contributed to an increase in power output of over 19.3 watts and an efficiency boost of 0.72% for the TNC-G12R 66 version. The TNC-G12 66 version saw a power increase of 15.1 watts and a conversion efficiency increase of 0.48%.
According to reports, Tongwei has made long-term investments in the TOPCon technology field, leading the completion of the industry’s first G12 PECVD Poly battery pilot line technology development. They have also been the first to implement large-size PECVD technology in the industry, filling a gap and achieving innovative breakthroughs in the manufacturing technology of TOPCon batteries. Data from InfoLink Consulting shows that PECVD solutions currently account for 56% of the 852GW solar cell production capacity market.
In 2023, PECVD technology was featured as the cover article in the well-known photovoltaic scientific journal Progress in Photovoltaics (PIP). In 2024, Tongwei’s independently developed “High-Efficiency N-Type TOPCon Solar Cell” was recognized as a “Major Technological Equipment First Set Product” in Sichuan Province, marking a significant milestone for solar cells in the province’s major equipment list.
