Kewei Environment Partners with Apollo Power to Implement Industrial-Grade Energy Storage System with Expected 25% Cost Savings

Kewei

Kewei Environment and Apollo Power have partnered to establish an industrial-grade energy storage system, aiming for cost-saving benefits of up to 25%. This collaboration was formalized on March 20, 2025, during the Kaohsiung Smart City Expo, where both parties signed an ESCO cooperation agreement for post-industrial energy storage.

The introduction of the Tesla Megapack energy storage system, combined with AI smart dispatching, is set to create a new milestone in energy efficiency and carbon reduction within the waste treatment industry.

Kewei Environment, a leading player in the special waste treatment sector, has a contracted capacity exceeding 1,000 kW and requires continuous operation 24 hours a day. The collaboration will see the installation of three Tesla Megapack systems at the Daliao plant, each with a capacity of 979 kW/3,916 kWh. These systems utilize state-of-the-art energy storage technology, featuring:

  • Rapid response capability: The system can respond in less than one second, enabling black start functionality.
  • Extended power supply duration: In the event of a power outage, the system can maintain power for 2-4 hours.
  • Smart dispatch system: Integrating Apollo Power’s patented EMS system with AI algorithms for load forecasting and optimal scheduling.

The project adopts an ESCO business model, offering several advantages:

  • No upfront investment: Companies do not need to bear initial setup costs.
  • Profit-sharing mechanism: Savings from energy efficiency are shared, creating a win-win situation.
  • Professional maintenance management: Apollo Power will provide comprehensive system maintenance and optimization services.

This initiative will enhance corporate competitiveness through five key benefits:

  • Maximized economic benefits: Expected annual savings exceeding 25%, effectively responding to electricity price adjustments and peak-off-peak price differentials while minimizing operational losses from unexpected downtime.
  • Protection of critical equipment: Safeguarding the anaerobic digestion system, ensuring stable operation of the incinerator control module, and preventing risks of biogas leakage and temperature control loss.
  • Optimized power quality: Mitigating power surges and voltage drops, protecting high-precision equipment, and extending equipment lifespan.
  • Intelligent management: Establishing a comprehensive energy management system (EMS), introducing AI predictive models, and optimizing equipment operation schedules.
  • Sustainable development strategy: Meeting renewable energy obligations for large electricity users, enhancing corporate ESG performance, and boosting industry sustainability competitiveness.

According to Lu Taiying, Chairman of Kewei Environment, “This strategic collaboration with Apollo Power demonstrates our commitment to industry transformation and sustainable development. By adopting the advanced Tesla Megapack energy storage system, we will further solidify our leadership in the waste treatment sector.”

Chen Feiwen, Vice General Manager of Apollo Power, emphasized, “This partnership showcases Apollo Power’s expertise in industrial-grade energy storage solutions. Our systems not only provide essential demand control and electricity price arbitrage but also integrate advanced applications for power quality optimization and intelligent management, creating greater operational value for our clients.”

This collaboration marks the first introduction of large-scale energy storage systems in Taiwan’s waste treatment industry, setting a new standard for the sector. Both parties aim to deepen their cooperation, leveraging innovative technology applications to enhance industry competitiveness while achieving environmental sustainability goals.
