Tongwei Sets New Efficiency Record with 25.28% for TNC Solar Modules

25.28%! Tongwei TNC High-Efficiency Module Sets New Efficiency Record!

On March 20, Tongwei Co., Ltd.’s photovoltaic technology center announced that its TNC-G12R module achieved a front power output of 682.8 watts under standard dimensions of 2382*1134mm, surpassing the current mainstream power output of similar models in the market by approximately 60 watts. The conversion efficiency reached 25.28%. In a slightly larger model, the TNC-G12 module, measured at 2384*1303mm, achieved a power output of 778.5 watts with a conversion efficiency of 25.06%, once again breaking the efficiency and power records for the two mainstream TOPCon module types.

This latest achievement is attributed to the in-depth innovation and integration of TNC cell and module technologies by Tongwei’s photovoltaic R&D team. They utilized advanced techniques such as tubular PECVD poly deposition, Poly Tech, EPT passivation, and screen printing, alongside optimizing the optical and electrical design of the modules. Additionally, the implementation of high-throughput dense stacking technology led to a power increase of over 19.3 watts for the TNC-G12R model and a 0.72% efficiency enhancement. For the TNC-G12 model, power increased by 15.1 watts with a 0.48% improvement in conversion efficiency.

This breakthrough marks the second record-setting achievement since the establishment of Tongwei’s Global Innovation R&D Center, occurring just three months after the previous milestone, further demonstrating the powerful momentum of Tongwei’s technological engine.

Tongwei is actively investing in and developing TOPCon technology, continuously contributing to the technological advancement of the industry. The company has led the completion of the first G12 PECVD poly battery pilot line in the industry, pioneering large-size PECVD technology, filling a gap in the market, and achieving innovative breakthroughs in the manufacturing of TOPCon batteries. In 2023, PECVD technology was featured as the cover article in the renowned photovoltaic scientific journal Progress in Photovoltaics (PIP) and received widespread international recognition. The same year, Tongwei’s “High-Efficiency Silicon Passivated Contact Solar Cell (TNC) Technology” was included in the China Photovoltaic Industry Association’s “2023 Annual Photovoltaic Industry Innovation Achievements Recommendation Directory,” becoming the only TOPCon battery technology to be selected.

In 2024, Tongwei’s self-developed “High-Efficiency N-type TOPCon Solar Cell” was recognized as a “Major Technological Equipment First Prototype Product” in Sichuan Province, marking a significant achievement for solar cells in the province.
