Hainan University Achieves Breakthrough in Perovskite Solar Cell Efficiency with 26.92%
According to recent reports, the team specializing in new energy optoelectronic materials and devices at Hainan University’s School of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering has made significant progress in the development of advanced photovoltaic devices. Their self-developed perovskite solar cells have been validated by the China National Photovoltaic Industry Measurement and Testing Center, achieving a certified efficiency of 26.92% in March 2025, a notable increase from the 26.54% efficiency recorded in December 2024. This brings them close to the latest world record for single-junction perovskite solar cells of 26.95%, as reported by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in the United States.
Hainan University’s certified efficiency is now among the highest in the world. For more details, you can refer to their official website for the latest certification report.
In a bid to enhance research collaboration, Hainan University has established a dedicated WeChat group for global researchers to facilitate professional exchanges on perovskite technologies. Interested parties can join by adding the editor’s WeChat accounts: pvalley2024 or pvalley2019, and must include their name, institution, and research focus in the message for verification.
