Hainan University Achieves 26.92% Efficiency in Perovskite Solar Cells, Closing in on World Record

Hainan

Hainan University is making significant strides in the field of photovoltaic technology with its latest achievement in perovskite solar cell efficiency. The Institute of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering at the university has reported its perovskite solar cells have reached a certified efficiency of 26.92%, as verified by the National Center for PV Industry Measurement and Testing in China. This marks a remarkable increase from the 26.54% efficiency recorded in December 2024.

This new efficiency puts Hainan University’s solar cells just shy of the world record set by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in the United States, which is currently at 26.95% for single-junction perovskite solar cells.

For those interested in collaborating in research, Hainan University has established specialized WeChat groups for both domestic and international researchers in the field of perovskite technology. To join, researchers can add the editor on WeChat at pvalley2024 or pvalley2019 with a message including their name, institution, and research direction to gain access after an approval process.

This advancement is part of a broader initiative to enhance research cooperation in the field of new energy materials and devices.
