On March 24, the China Securities Mainland New Energy Theme Index declined by 0.35%, closing at 1804.54 points with a trading volume of 26.405 billion yuan. Meanwhile, the Shanghai Composite Index rose by 0.15%. Over the past month, the new energy index has decreased by 0.22%, while it has fallen by 2.60% over the last three months and by 1.51% year-to-date.
The China Securities Mainland New Energy Theme Index selects 50 sample stocks from publicly listed companies involved in new energy production, storage, and electric vehicles, focusing on those with significant business scale and profitability. The index was established on December 31, 2008, with a base value of 1000.0 points.
Currently, the top ten weighted companies in the index are: CATL (15.71%), Sunlight Power (9.08%), China Nuclear Power (7.16%), Three Gorges Energy (5.72%), EVE Energy (5.6%), Huayou Cobalt (4.59%), China General Nuclear Power (2.65%), JinkoSolar (2.58%), Goldwind Technology (2.46%), and Chint Electric (2.43%).
In terms of market segments, the Shenzhen Stock Exchange represents 61.74% of the holdings, the Shanghai Stock Exchange accounts for 37.38%, and the Beijing Stock Exchange makes up 0.89%. Analyzing by industry, the index shows that 70.97% is in the industrial sector, 20.66% in utilities, and 8.37% in materials.
Data indicates that the index samples are adjusted biannually, with adjustments made on the next trading day following the second Friday of June and December each year. The weights are adjusted in accordance with these sample changes, which remain fixed until the next scheduled adjustment unless there are special circumstances requiring temporary updates. If a sample stock is delisted, it is removed from the index. Changes due to acquisitions, mergers, or spin-offs are handled according to maintenance guidelines.
