The Road to EcoCity – Hong Kong Environmental Technology Forum 2025 was held on March 24 in Hong Kong, organized by the Carbon Reduction Living Foundation and the Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Education Alliance. The event aimed to focus on the theme of “Smart Carbon Reduction, Green Technological Innovation”, exploring the strategies and directions for technological empowerment in the environmental industry. The goal was to promote environmental technology while ensuring sustainable development in the tech industry.
The Deputy Secretary for the Environment and Ecology Bureau of the Hong Kong SAR Government, Ms. Wong Shuk-han, expressed in her speech that in line with the national dual carbon goals, the government aims to halve Hong Kong’s carbon emissions from 2005 levels by 2035 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. She emphasized that reaching carbon neutrality requires not only policy and technological support but also highlights the role of green tech startups as pioneers in technological innovation, with young people being a significant force in achieving these goals.
Co-chairman of the forum’s organizing committee, Mr. Chan Hung-leung, stated that the forum aims to showcase environmental technology, particularly advancements and success stories in smart carbon reduction, to inspire more people to join the environmental movement and contribute to building a beautiful planet.
The forum featured keynote speeches from experts such as Professor Wong Shung-wai, a chair professor of Building Energy and Automation at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He shared insights on topics including the transition of power systems to carbon neutrality and the application of science and technology in reducing carbon emissions. The event attracted over 200 participants from both mainland China and Hong Kong, including professionals from government, business, and related industries.
