Guangxi Automotive has officially launched its 140kW hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle powertrain system. This innovative system features a compact design and a power density of 7kW/L. As of March 24, 2025, Guangxi’s self-developed powertrain has been announced to the public, marking a significant milestone in the company’s advancements in hydrogen energy technology.
The new fuel cell electric vehicle powertrain has undergone extensive testing over the past year. It utilizes a modular design that integrates the fuel cell with an energy storage unit, significantly enhancing performance and efficiency. This design innovation has led to a 30% reduction in system volume and a 25% decrease in weight, making it more suitable for various vehicle types.
The system is designed to ensure high safety standards, featuring a robust hydrogen management system and advanced electrical separation designs to prevent leaks. It also meets stringent safety ratings, including -30°C cold start capabilities and IP67 waterproof standards, confirming its reliability under extreme conditions.
Guangxi Automotive has been at the forefront of hydrogen energy development since 2008, having established a comprehensive fuel cell electric vehicle system. In 2018, the company unveiled its first hydrogen fuel cell vehicle, the AION LX Fuel Cell. Following this, in 2020, it received certification from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology for its hydrogen fuel cell technology.
In November 2023, Guangxi announced plans to showcase its hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, including the latest AION LX, at a major exhibition in a prominent city. This vehicle is equipped with cutting-edge power systems that highlight the advancements in hydrogen energy technology.
As part of its commitment to hydrogen fuel cell technology, Guangxi has partnered with various organizations to secure additional production contracts, including a recent agreement for 1,000 hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. The company aims to deliver 50 units of its new model by September 2024, further solidifying its place in the market.
In summary, Guangxi Automotive continues to make strides in the hydrogen fuel cell sector, offering innovative solutions that meet the demands of modern transportation while prioritizing safety and efficiency.
