Tesla’s Shanghai Energy Superfactory Exports First Batch of Megapack Energy Systems

On March 21, Tesla’s Shanghai Energy Superfactory officially exported its first batch of Megapack energy systems. These units are set to be shipped to Australia, while future production at the Shanghai facility will cater to both domestic and Asia-Pacific markets.

The Megapack is an ultra-large commercial electrochemical energy storage system designed specifically for utility-scale storage. Each unit has the capacity to store approximately 3.9 megawatt-hours of electricity, providing an efficient solution for grid stability and the integration of renewable energy sources.

Currently, Tesla operates energy superfactories in both Las Vegas, USA and Shanghai, China, with plans for an annual production capacity reaching 80 gigawatt-hours. This output is sufficient to power 10 million households for a year.
