CIHC2025 International Hydrogen Energy Conference Successfully Opens

On March 26, 2025, the International Hydrogen Energy Conference and International Hydrogen Energy and Fuel Cell Industry Exhibition (referred to as the “CIHC2025 International Hydrogen Energy Conference”) grandly commenced at the National Convention Center. The conference focuses on the forefront of the industry, establishing a platform for global exchange, dialogue, and cooperation in the hydrogen energy sector, thereby promoting the global energy transition and sustainable development.

The conference officially launched the 2025 Hydrogen Energy Specialized Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition. The China Hydrogen Energy Alliance will collaborate with Beijing, Inner Mongolia, Jiangsu Province, and Shaanxi Province to carry out four major competitions: the Specialized Innovation Enterprise Technology Roadshow Competition, the Technology Achievement Project Transformation Competition, the Hydrogen Energy Scenario Simulation Technology Application Competition, and the Electrolyzer Long-term Testing Challenge. During the event, the China Hydrogen Energy Alliance announced significant collaborative results with the China 21st Century Agenda Management Center, the National Intellectual Property Administration’s China Patent Information Center, and the Chinese Society of Metals, including the Research on the Development Roadmap of Hydrogen Energy Technology in China, Global Hydrogen Energy Patent Model and Insights, and the Technology Roadmap for Key Materials in the Hydrogen Energy Sector, which strongly supports scientific development in hydrogen energy technology innovation, digital modeling, and foundational materials.

More than 1,000 representatives attended the conference, including officials from national energy regulatory authorities, local governments, hydrogen energy demonstration zones, international hydrogen energy organizations, embassies, research institutions, universities, leading enterprises, and specialized innovation companies.

In addition to the main forum, several parallel events were held, including the China Hydrogen Energy Alliance Council, the Central Enterprises Green Hydrogen Production, Storage, and Transportation Innovation Coalition Seminar, the “14th Five-Year Plan” Hydrogen Energy Development Strategy Seminar, the International Seminar on Marine Hydrogen Energy Development Technology and Applications, the China-IRENA Cooperation Hydrogen Energy Working Group Annual Meeting, and the Hydrogen Energy Production and Financial Innovation and International Cooperation Forum. These discussions centered around national strategic development directions such as policy guidance, application demonstration, technological innovation, international cooperation, and industry-finance collaboration, and resulted in the release of five authoritative hydrogen energy industry reports, including the China Hydrogen Energy Investment and Financing Report and Prospects for Marine Hydrogen Energy Development and the “Offshore Hydrogen Ammonia Integrated Energy Island Demonstration”. More than 30 thematic speeches attracted participation from over 10 domestic cities and more than 20 embassies and international organizations, including the Netherlands Embassy in China, focusing on the dynamics of international hydrogen energy development and collaborative ecosystem construction.

As the first large-scale exhibition held after the completion of the second phase of the National Convention Center, this year’s exhibition has been upgraded, showcasing over 400 hydrogen energy and fuel cell enterprises and more than 1,000 new technologies, products, and application scenarios across a doubled exhibition area of 40,000 square meters. Major companies such as China Energy Group, Dongfang Electric, State Power Investment Corporation, China Aerospace, China Shipbuilding, China CRRC, and Shanghai Electric, as well as internationally recognized firms like Bosch, LONGi Hydrogen Energy, and Sunshine Hydrogen Energy, participated in the event. The exhibition featured city theme pavilions that highlighted the development achievements and innovative practices of hydrogen energy-leading regions such as Beijing, Hong Kong, Ordos, Suzhou, and Yangzhou, creating a triadic platform for corporate technology displays, urban ecological demonstrations, and industry-academia-research collaborative innovation. This initiative aims to further solidify the core position of global hydrogen energy technology exchange and industry cooperation. Additionally, various exchange activities such as the National Hydrogen Energy Technology Open Day, the “Hydrogen Creates the Future” National Youth Painting Competition on Green Hydrogen, and hydrogen energy public education initiatives are expected to attract 50,000 professional visitors.

During the main forum, the seventh council meeting of the first council of the China Hydrogen Energy Alliance approved the applications of 58 enterprises to join the Alliance, bringing the total membership to over 310 organizations across 27 provinces and municipalities in China. Concurrently, the annual work meeting of the Central Enterprises Green Hydrogen Production, Storage, and Transportation Innovation Coalition was held, attended by representatives including Sun Shaobin, Deputy Director of the Science and Technology Innovation Bureau of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, Yan Guochun, Member of the Party Committee and Vice President of the National Energy Group, and Yu Baocai, Senior Vice President of Sinopec, along with representatives from 16 partner organizations. The meeting aimed to strengthen resource integration and cross-sector collaboration to promote the alignment of cutting-edge technology research and large-scale application scenarios. Project leaders from the National Energy Group, Foshan City in Guangdong, the Netherlands, Spain, the United States, as well as from institutions like the University of Southern Denmark, Sciences Po Paris, and the Noniko Palladium Center delivered keynote speeches on major hydrogen projects, global hydrogen development, hydrogen technology and economics, and China-Europe hydrogen cooperation, providing diverse international perspectives and insights into industry trends.

The International Hydrogen Energy Conference and the International Hydrogen Energy and Fuel Cell Industry Exhibition, initiated by the China Hydrogen Energy Alliance in 2021, has now entered its third edition. The scale of the conference continues to expand, making it a significant event with international influence in the hydrogen energy sector and a preferred platform for releasing important research, innovation achievements, and projects.
