China Accelerates Development of High-Quality New Energy Vehicles Amid Market Regulation Growth

China

Market Regulation on the Rise! China is promoting the development of high-quality new energy vehicles to support its “multiple points of development.” On March 30, 2025, at 13:27:18, it was reported that the Chinese electric vehicle industry is undergoing significant changes.

The upcoming 2025 China Electric Vehicle Conference is expected to highlight the rapid growth of the new energy vehicle market, which has already seen a substantial increase. The annual production of new energy vehicles is projected to exceed one million units, accounting for 65% of the total production of electric vehicles, marking a continuous effort to maintain the top position in the industry for the past ten years.

In the next steps, China plans to further enhance the quality of new energy vehicle development through various initiatives. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has expressed support for policies that actively encourage large-scale production and technological advancement.

In terms of technology, efforts will focus on accelerating the development of battery technologies, vehicle components, and high-efficiency hybrid systems. Additionally, there will be a push for the integration of intelligent networks and autonomous driving capabilities, with an emphasis on achieving Level 3 automation in vehicles.

The National Energy Administration indicated that by the end of 2024, the total installed capacity of charging infrastructure will reach 128.18 million units, reflecting a significant increase of 49.1%. This growth is attributed to several significant projects that have been launched recently.

Going forward, the National Energy Administration will continue to promote the construction of charging facilities, focusing on accelerating the installation of new technology and new business models in the energy sector. Recent statistics show that since March 28 of this year, the new energy vehicle market has already seen a total of 1.769 million units in sales, while the cumulative sales of new energy passenger vehicles have reached 2.05 million units, marking a 34% increase compared to the same period last year.

The Ministry of Commerce has emphasized that in the future, efforts will be made to enhance the support for replacing older vehicles with new energy models, ensuring a smooth transition to more sustainable options. They will also work on improving the efficiency of tax incentives for new energy vehicles.

The Ministry of Commerce’s spokesperson stated, “We will continue to support the development of new energy vehicles within the framework of our existing tax policies and regulations, facilitating the adoption of electric vehicles while enhancing infrastructure and services.”
