The Ministry of Commerce has announced that during the 2025 Electric Vehicle Conference in China, the new energy vehicle market is expected to continue its rapid growth. This year’s data indicates that as of March 28, 2025, China has already registered 1.769 million new energy vehicles. The total number of new energy vehicles sold in the country has reached 2.05 million, representing a year-on-year increase of approximately 34%.
In the previous year, China sold a total of about 6.8 million vehicles, with around 4 million being new energy vehicles. For 2024, it is estimated that one-third of new energy vehicles will come from the latest subsidies. The Ministry of Commerce has expressed that future measures will further promote the sales of new energy vehicles, enhancing support for their purchase and reducing taxes.
In line with these efforts, the ministry will continue to implement policies to stimulate the new energy vehicle market, including promotional campaigns aimed at boosting consumer interest. The Ministry of Commerce’s spokesperson stated that they will maintain their focus on encouraging the adoption of these vehicles.
The ministry has also emphasized the importance of maintaining a stable market environment for the auto industry, which includes adjusting fuel taxes, vehicle regulations, and “green” vehicle incentives. These actions aim to accelerate the shift towards new energy vehicles while ensuring fair market practices.
Furthermore, the export of new energy vehicles from China is projected to surpass 2 million units, with plans to support domestic brands in expanding their market presence globally. The ministry intends to enhance cooperation with international partners to bolster the competitiveness of Chinese new energy vehicles.
Overall, these initiatives reflect China’s commitment to advancing the new energy vehicle sector, with the goal of achieving a sustainable and environmentally friendly automotive industry.
