The development of new products reflects the current state of market competition and the direction of new technologies in the industry. In 2024, with the rapid development of the energy storage industry, the iteration speed of products and technologies across the energy storage supply chain is significantly accelerating. Keeping track of new technology and product developments is crucial, and the release of new energy storage products has always been a highlight of the energy storage conference. CIES2025 will continue to make new product launches a key segment of the conference, setting up three special sessions for new product releases, providing a superb platform for showcasing cutting-edge technologies and products, with over 30 new products making their global debut.
For instance, Zhiguang Energy Storage, an advocate and leader in cascade-type high-voltage large-capacity energy storage technology, showcased its large-capacity cascade high-voltage energy storage technology solution with a single unit capacity ranging from 50MW to 100MW. This technology features grid formation and black start capabilities, with a rapid frequency response that is compatible with virtual synchronous machines and provides both active and reactive support. In grid-connected scenarios, the 100MW-level grid-forming energy storage system can offer virtual inertia, enhance short-circuit capacity, increase system strength, and achieve rapid system responses.
In microgrid scenarios, it can realize black start capability, serving as a backup power supply and uninterruptible power supply (UPS). The 100MW-level 35kV energy storage system demonstrates strong voltage adaptability and fault tolerance in complex application scenarios, promoting deeper application and development of energy storage systems within new power systems.
Shanghai Xixing Technology, a leader in PCS technology, globally launched its 125kW grid-forming commercial and industrial energy storage PCS, enabling seamless switching between grid-connected and off-grid modes. Its unique switching solution reduces overall machine costs by 6%, with a silicon carbide (SiC) maximum efficiency of ≥98.8%.
Pylon Technologies is actively expanding into the large storage market and has entered the long-duration energy storage sector. At this exhibition, it launched a 6.9MWh battery container product characterized by low cost, high energy density, long cycle life, high reliability, and enhanced safety features. Compared to the 5MWh container, this product offers a 15% reduction in comprehensive costs, a 35% increase in space utilization, and a lithium replenishment system achieving over 12,000 long cycles, along with a simpler structure that enhances overall reliability by over 33%. It features a 2-hour fire-resistant system with built-in fire protection, further improving safety.
Another product released by Pylon Technologies, the virtual impedance modulator, intelligently adjusts the output impedance of each battery cluster based on state of charge (SOC) information provided by the battery management system (BMS), achieving precise control over the charging and discharging current of the battery clusters. This innovation enables zero circulating current between battery clusters and actively balances SOC among them, enhancing project internal rate of return (IRR) by over 2.5%, increasing lifecycle depth of discharge (DOD) by more than 8%, while keeping cost increases below 0.5 cents/Wh and operational losses under 0.5%. The current distribution is controllable, supporting a maximum of 48 clusters in parallel, ensuring seamless operation for 4 to 8 hours while elevating battery discharge voltage to 1280V and enabling the PV storage system to use an 800V transformer, thereby reducing equipment investment, footprint, and charging energy consumption.
