The 2025 Zhongguancun Forum on China-Nordic Sustainable Development and Innovation, along with the Xingxing Green Smart Energy Industry Ecosystem Forum, successfully took place on March 31, 2025. The theme of the event was “Green Energy Transformation: Innovation Drives the Future.” It was held at both the Zhongguancun International Innovation Center and the Zhongguancun Yonghe Xingxing Technology Park.
The morning session was hosted by the Dongcheng District People’s Government and co-organized by various entities including the Dongcheng Park Management Committee, the Zhongguancun Yonghe Xingxing Technology Park, the Beijing Dongcheng District Science and Technology Innovation Industry Investment Development Group Co., Ltd., the Swedish Environmental Research Institute, Beijing Zhongchuang Carbon Investment Technology Co., Ltd., and the Nordic Branch of the Overseas-Returned Scholars Association. The forum focused on “Digital Intelligence in Green and Low-Carbon Industries” and “Hydrogen Energy’s Role in Carbon Dual Control Transition.” It brought together renowned scientists, scholars, entrepreneurs, and investors from around the globe to discuss how to accelerate the establishment of a multi-energy complementary integrated energy system, maintain the stability of the new energy industry chain and supply chain, enhance the accessibility and innovation of green products and technologies, and foster the cultivation of new productivity.
Keynote speeches were delivered by prominent figures including Yao Zhenzhi, Deputy Director of the Equipment Industry Development Center of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology; Wei Qingshan, Deputy Director of the Power Business Qualification Management Center of the National Energy Administration; Yao Wang, Vice President of the Overseas-Returned Scholars Association; and Shi Chongyuan, Director of the Dongcheng Park Management Committee. Ma Jianfeng, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Beijing Xingxing Machine Manufacturing Co., Ltd., emphasized that the Xingxing Technology Park, as a characteristic industrial park of Zhongguancun and a benchmark industrial area in Dongcheng District, focuses on strategic emerging industries such as digital energy, artificial intelligence, and green low-carbon technologies. He noted the park’s role as both a “connector” and “accelerator” in promoting alignment of China-Europe technical standards and facilitating the international expansion of China’s green production capacity.
During the event, several significant achievements were announced, including the launch of the International Green Smart Energy Industry Innovation Consortium and the initiation of ecological construction, the release of the “EnergyX AI Intelligent Carbon Entity” and the “Zero Carbon Park” initiative in a hundred cities, and the establishment of a platform for the research, design, and verification of green smart energy AI hardware.
Notable speakers in the keynote session included Yang Tao, a member of the Royal Norwegian Academy of Sciences and Letters, Liu Dawei, Deputy General Manager of China Energy Construction Hydrogen Energy Company, Anna Söderholm, Vice President of the Swedish Environmental Research Institute, Hou Yuhan, Assistant to the Chairman and Marketing Director of Goldwind Technology Co., Ltd., and Magnus Sprenger, a partner at Ernst & Young. They shared insights on topics such as bioenergy transformation, hydrogen energy development, green road transport, and applications of low-carbon technologies.
In the peak dialogue session, attendees discussed “How Technological Innovation Drives Corporate Green Sustainable Development Under Carbon Dual Control Policies.” They agreed that technological innovation is a key driver for companies to achieve carbon dual control goals and highlighted the need for cross-industry collaboration, policy support, and technological breakthroughs to build new paradigms for green and low-carbon development, turning carbon constraints into core competitive advantages.
In the afternoon, the 2025 Zhongguancun Forum’s Xingxing Green Smart Energy Industry Ecosystem Forum took place at the Zhongguancun Yonghe Xingxing Technology Park. This forum concentrated on promoting the digital transformation and sustainable development of green low-carbon industries, advancing energy digital transformation, and fostering practical cooperation in advanced green technologies. It aimed to gather collective efforts to explore sustainable energy development pathways while injecting significant momentum into the cultivation of new productivity and the green transformation of various industries.
Several cutting-edge scientific and technological projects were featured in the pitch session. The roundtable discussion, themed “Sustainable Energy and the Future of Humanity,” allowed guests to engage in deep discussions regarding the challenges and opportunities in sustainable energy development, as well as technological innovation and industrial upgrades.
