Ningde Times Partners with Sinopec! This year, they will establish over 500 battery swap stations
On April 2, 2025, Ningde Times (CATL) signed a cooperation framework agreement with Sinopec in Beijing. Under this agreement, the two parties will deepen their long-term strategic partnership and collaboratively build a nationwide battery swap ecological network. This year, they plan to construct no fewer than 500 battery swap stations, with a long-term goal of expanding to 10,000 stations.
The meeting included Ningde Times Chairman and CEO Zeng Yuqun, Sinopec Chairman and Party Secretary Ma Yongsheng, Ningde Times Chief Investment Officer Wang Hongbo, and Sinopec General Manager and Deputy Party Secretary Zhao Dong.
Previously, Ningde Times and Sinopec had established a good cooperative relationship in areas such as comprehensive energy station construction and operation, energy storage, energy products, new materials, and technological innovation. The next step will be to leverage their respective strengths to further expand cooperation in the battery swap sector.
At the meeting, Ningde Times subsidiaries, Times Electric Service and Times Qiji, signed a Battery Swap Business Cooperation Agreement with Sinopec Sales Company. In promoting the “10,000 Station Plan,” they will work together to create an integrated service network that encompasses “people, vehicles, energy, and life,” providing standardized and large-scale support for achieving carbon neutrality goals.
Both parties will utilize their strengths: Sinopec will leverage its extensive network of gas station facilities and energy infrastructure capabilities, while Ningde Times will draw on its advanced battery technology and battery swap system development expertise to jointly promote the construction and operation of battery swap stations.
Specifically, they will collaborate based on Ningde Times’ Chocolate Battery Swap and Qiji Chassis Battery Swap solutions to break through the range limitations of passenger vehicles and heavy trucks, creating a more efficient, convenient, and economical energy replenishment network.
Ningde Times consistently aims to create value for consumers through technological innovation, ensuring that everyone has access to high-quality batteries for an improved driving experience in the era of smart technology. The General Manager of Ningde Times’ battery swap business, Yang Jun, stated, “The trend of complete electrification in the automotive industry is becoming increasingly clear, and the market is calling for a more comprehensive energy supply network. Through our collaboration with Sinopec, we hope to achieve ‘battery swapping like refueling.’ This is the shared mission and vision of the battery swap industry.”
In terms of compatible vehicle models, Times Electric Service has already collaborated with several mainstream automotive manufacturers based on the Chocolate Battery Swap solution, launching models such as the Changan Auchan 520, Aion S, and FAW Hongqi EQM5. Times Qiji has partnered with major truck manufacturers, including Sinotruk, FAW, and Foton, to jointly introduce over 30 chassis battery swap models.
This partnership marks a new phase in the systematic construction of the battery swap ecosystem. As traditional energy giants and leaders in new energy, Sinopec and Ningde Times will work together to promote the standardization of electricity and energy, building a national comprehensive energy infrastructure that contributes a Chinese model for global energy transformation.
