On March 25, the first Innovative Development Forum organized by China Energy Group Guangxi Power Company took place in Nanning. This event brought together officials from relevant government departments, experts, scholars, and business representatives to discuss the theme of “Planning and Development”. The focus was on exploring new pathways for the integration of the energy industry and technological innovation, contributing ideas for the high-quality development of the regional economy.
As a cornerstone of regional energy supply and a leader in the energy revolution, China Energy Guangxi Company has consistently strengthened its focus on driving technological innovation. The company has increased its investment in research and development, emphasizing the exploration and application of emerging energy technologies such as source-network-load-storage and integrated energy. It is vigorously promoting the construction of new energy projects, enhancing the proportion of clean energy, and boosting green development through initiatives like smart power plants and the establishment of a digital financial system, thereby facilitating a deep integration of technological and industrial innovation for high-quality corporate development.
Key topics of interest at the forum included phrases related to energy industry development discussed during the national two sessions, such as “developing new types of productive forces suitable for local conditions”, “accelerating the development of a green low-carbon economy”, and “cultivating green energy”. Experts at the forum provided in-depth interpretations of policies related to the marketization of new energy grid pricing and Guangxi’s “14th Five-Year Plan”, suggesting that seizing opportunities in renewable energy development and accelerating the green low-carbon transition are essential. They emphasized the need for the integration of technological and industrial innovation, aiming to cultivate new productive forces led by artificial intelligence and build a new power system to inject robust green energy into Guangxi’s high-quality development.
The forum also placed special emphasis on new opportunities for China-ASEAN energy cooperation. Experts provided detailed insights into the highlights of economic development in ASEAN and Vietnam, discussing the current status, challenges, and potential of power cooperation between China and Vietnam. They recommended leveraging Guangxi’s geographical advantages through technical standards export and cross-border green electricity trade to jointly build a green energy industry chain with Vietnam and other ASEAN countries, supporting the green development of the Belt and Road Initiative.
Looking ahead to the “14th Five-Year Plan”, discussions centered on how to align corporate development with national needs and future directions to better serve and integrate into the broader regional development strategy. During the forum, China Energy Guangxi Company announced plans to accelerate the layout of new business formats such as energy storage and integrated energy services. Sui Yongkuan, a member of the company’s party committee and deputy general manager, stated that the company aims to seize opportunities in “Artificial Intelligence+” development, promote the digital upgrade of traditional energy, and strive to become a pioneer in constructing a new power system.
After the forum, participants visited Nanning BYD New Materials Co., Ltd. for a hands-on inspection. As a leading enterprise in the new energy sector, BYD has established six projects in Guangxi, including a 45GWh energy storage system and power batteries, with a total investment exceeding 29 billion yuan. This initiative promotes a deep integration of the innovation chain and industrial chain. Participants focused on visiting the company’s 30,000-ton lithium carbonate project, the intelligent 3D safety management platform, and the sodium sulfate workshop’s evaporation crystallization area, gaining insights into its current development status and future plans. Yan Shiyong, the company’s representative, expressed hopes for deepening strategic cooperation with China Energy Guangxi Company, particularly in innovative collaborations in areas such as compressed air energy storage technology and photovoltaic charging station network construction.
It is reported that Guangxi is accelerating its efforts to establish a national comprehensive energy security guarantee zone, planning to achieve a non-fossil energy consumption share of over 30% by 2025 through a series of innovative measures. The consensus formed during this forum regarding the integration of production and research is set to inject green momentum into the region’s high-quality economic development, contributing to the creation of a new highland for green energy cooperation aimed at ASEAN.
