Global

Carbon Report Week: Over the past six months, the implementation of four major hydrogen energy policies has made significant progress (Carbon Report No. 141).

On April 3, 2025, at 18:07, new developments were reported regarding the country’s energy resources. The focus of the report is on the latest strategies and policies in the hydrogen energy sector.

The National Development and Reform Commission and six other governmental departments have jointly released a plan titled “Promotion of High-Quality Hydrogen Energy Development,” which outlines strategic goals leading up to 2030. The plan aims to enhance the production and efficiency of hydrogen energy technologies, with a target increase of over 20% in product effectiveness.

1. Key Policies and Strategies: The National Energy Administration is beginning to enforce new regulations aimed at promoting the use of green hydrogen energy. These policies will encourage the development of renewable energy sources and the establishment of a green hydrogen certification system. By 2025, every 1,000 megawatt-hours of renewable energy generated will lead to the issuance of one green certification.

2. The Ministry of Ecology and Environment has also initiated the “Green Energy Certification System,” aimed at ensuring a more effective and accountable use of renewable energy resources.

3. The Ministry of Science and Technology plans to enhance the research and development of innovative technologies in hydrogen production, with a focus on reducing carbon emissions during the process.

4. On March 30, 2025, a national conference on hydrogen energy is scheduled to be held in Beijing, where discussions will revolve around the latest advancements and strategic initiatives in the hydrogen energy sector.

5. The conference will feature representatives from over 50 countries, focusing on collaborative efforts to advance hydrogen energy technologies and policies.

6. The 2025 National Green Hydrogen Conference aims to gather experts and stakeholders to share insights on the future of hydrogen energy, with a particular emphasis on sustainability and innovation.

7. The event will also address the integration of artificial intelligence in optimizing hydrogen production processes, thereby enhancing the overall efficiency of hydrogen energy systems.

8. The 2025 National Hydrogen Energy Conference will serve as a platform for exchanging ideas and fostering partnerships within the industry.

9. The National Energy Administration has emphasized the need for continuous support and investment in hydrogen technologies to ensure the long-term sustainability and growth of the sector.

10. In conclusion, the advancements in hydrogen energy policies and technologies are expected to play a crucial role in the transition towards a greener and more sustainable energy landscape.
