Chinas

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has announced that by 2025, China aims to produce 300,000 electric autonomous vehicles. This information was reported on April 9, 2025.

Since the beginning of this year, the production rate of electric autonomous vehicles has been accelerating rapidly. As of April 8, the total number of electric vehicles produced reached approximately 334.1 million, which is a significant increase compared to the 2.4 times total from the same period in 2024 (specifically from September to December).

In the first three months of this year, the production numbers for electric vehicles were 15.6 million, 86.3 million, and 186.1 million respectively, showing a year-over-year increase of 285.0%. From April 1 to April 8 alone, 46.1 million vehicles were produced, reflecting a continuous growth in output.

Among the 26 provinces, 7 provinces including Beijing, Hebei, Jiangsu, Guangxi, Hunan, Shaanxi, and Shanxi reported production numbers exceeding 10 million vehicles.

Moreover, with the continuous enhancement of production capacities, a total of 31 provinces and municipalities have established production facilities for electric vehicles, achieving a production rate of 92.3% at the provincial level.

From the perspective of market demand, 330,000 new consumers have signed up for subsidies for electric vehicles this year, amounting to a total of 22.7 billion yuan in subsidies, which is approximately 3.5 times the total subsidy amount in 2024.

On the sales side, 6.4 million households have participated in the purchase of electric vehicles. The data shows that most of these sales are driven by individual consumers and small businesses, contributing to a substantial increase in new vehicle sales.

Looking at production output, 1.1 million electric vehicles were produced in the first quarter of this year, marking a 25% increase compared to the same period last year.

Starting in September 2024, the production of electric vehicles is projected to reach 470,000, with strict regulations on vehicle quality to ensure compliance with national standards and safety certifications. This will further enhance the safety measures in place.
