On March 12, 2025, Cummins Power Generation announced the introduction of new Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) solutions to its global product line. These solutions feature two distinct architectural designs and represent a significant advancement in helping customers achieve their sustainability goals.
Lucio Kroll, Senior Director of New Energy Solutions at Cummins Power Generation, remarked, “The global shift towards renewable energy is becoming increasingly profound.” He added, “We are proud to extend our product offerings to include BESS, aligning with this transition and providing our customers with safe and reliable solutions to help them meet their energy transition objectives.”
The Cummins Power Generation BESS solutions come in two architectural designs: a 10-foot container (200-400 kWh) and a 20-foot high cube container (600 kWh-2 MWh). Key features of the products include proven lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries, which offer a long cycle life, optimal liquid cooling thermal management designed to maximize battery longevity and reliability, and a comprehensive tiered fire safety approach. Additionally, these products are fully self-sufficient and plug-and-play, ensuring efficient and seamless transportation and installation.
This solution is set to meet the power demands of industrial, commercial, and critical mission markets operating within a 50Hz frequency range. The three main use cases are off-grid applications (remote communities, mining sites, and isolated industrial uses), energy management (electric vehicle charging infrastructure, commercial properties, and universities), and life-saving facilities (data centers, medical facilities, and wastewater treatment plants).
