Du Changhong of Deep Blue Automotive: Empowering Brand Development with Super Range-Extended Technology to Further Reduce Electrification Costs

On April 9, 2025, during the China Electric Vehicle Hundred People Forum, Du Changhong, General Manager of the Power Platform Center at Deep Blue Automotive, shared insights with Xinhua News regarding brand competitiveness and electrification technology pathways. In response to the current trends in the automotive market, Du indicated that Deep Blue Automotive is advancing simultaneously in three technological areas: pure electric, range-extended electric, and hydrogen range extension.

Particularly in the field of range-extended electric vehicles, the Deep Blue Super Range Extension 2.0 has integrated three major technological clusters: the Ultra Electric Drive, Intelligent Range Extension, and the Jinzhongzhao battery. “Our key attributes are super efficiency, super comfort, and super safety. The Ultra Electric Drive represents super comfort, while the Intelligent Range Extension stands for super efficiency. Additionally, our batteries are extremely safe; since 2020, no thermal runaway incidents have occurred due to the battery cells or battery systems,” Du stated.

Discussing the trends in electrification and intelligence, Du emphasized, “We aim to further reduce the costs associated with electrification. Currently, Deep Blue Automotive’s products are high-performing, stable, and reliable, while also maintaining competitive costs. These factors lay a solid foundation for the development of intelligent technology, enabling us to rapidly achieve equity in intelligence and provide our users with a high-quality smart and electric travel experience.”

On the topic of battery technology, Du noted that compared to the liquid power batteries commonly used in today’s electric vehicles, solid-state batteries present numerous advantages, including higher safety, greater energy density, and a wider temperature operating range. “In my personal judgment, starting this year, all-solid-state batteries will begin to be applied in certain areas, such as 3C products. However, the large-scale use of solid-state batteries in automobiles may not begin until 2030. By then, we will certainly be at the forefront of industry development and will apply leading technologies to our relevant products,” he remarked.

Currently, the value of range extension technology extends beyond alleviating range anxiety; it also optimizes the energy consumption ecosystem through “oil-electric collaboration,” “vehicle-network interaction,” and “fuel upgrades.” With technological iterations and supportive policies, range-extended vehicles are poised to make a significant contribution towards achieving the dual carbon goals. Du explained, “Deep Blue’s logic is to address users’ mileage anxiety with range extension technology and to enhance energy replenishment efficiency through ultra-fast charging capabilities. In the near future, the range extension pathway will coexist with plug-in hybrid and pure electric routes, collectively providing users with automotive products and travel experiences that meet their individual needs.”
