KOSTAR and Infineon Deepen Cooperation: Full-Stack Innovative Solutions Lead New Trends in High-Frequency, High-Power UPS Market

In April 2025, in Munich, Germany, and Shanghai, China, Infineon announced an enhanced partnership with Shenzhen KOSTAR Technology Co., Ltd. This collaboration will utilize Infineon’s comprehensive power semiconductor solutions, including the 1200V CoolSiC™ MOSFETs, CoolSiC™ diodes, 650V CoolSiC™ MOSFET devices, and the EiceDRIVER™ series of single-channel isolated drivers. These advancements are aimed at enabling significant technological breakthroughs in KOSTAR’s high-power, high-frequency UPS systems.

KOSTAR and Infineon have collaborated closely for over thirty years, particularly in the fields of uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) and photovoltaic inverters. As a key semiconductor supplier for KOSTAR, their partnership spans the entire evolution of power device technology—from IGBT to SiC devices. Together, they are driving the application value of new power semiconductor products in UPS scenarios while also expanding their collaboration to the renewable energy sector. Infineon’s power modules are incorporated into multiple photovoltaic inverter products, jointly setting new benchmarks in power density and energy efficiency.

Amid the global data center industry’s accelerated shift towards efficiency and consolidation, the demand for high-frequency, medium to high-power UPS systems continues to rise. Industry analysis predicts that with the proliferation of 5G, AI, and cloud computing technologies, the global data center market is expected to surpass $15 billion by 2025. In this context, UPS systems—critical for power supply—face increasingly stringent demands regarding energy efficiency, power density, and reliability. However, traditional silicon-based devices encounter significant challenges in efficiency, heat dissipation, and size, which hinder industry development.

In response to these challenges, Shenzhen KOSTAR Technology Co., Ltd. has announced a deepened collaboration with Infineon to achieve a technological breakthrough for KOSTAR’s 100kVA online UPS system. This partnership aims to provide global customers with the next generation of UPS solutions characterized by high-frequency operation, high efficiency, and high reliability. By leveraging Infineon’s entire product portfolio, KOSTAR has successfully increased the UPS power density to 37.95 W/in³, reduced its size by 39%, and achieved system efficiency exceeding 98% in online mode and 99% in HECO mode, setting industry-leading standards and offering power solutions that combine performance with environmental value for the next generation of green data centers.
