New Energy Finance | New Energy Development Accelerates the Transformation of Power Systems
On March 17, 2025, the State Grid Corporation of China announced its commitment to building a new power system centered around renewable energy. This initiative aims to promote the integration of resource networks, enhance power system stability, flexibility, and economic efficiency.
The State Grid Corporation is focused on developing a unified resource network that combines renewable energy generation, smart grid technologies, and innovative models for energy storage. This strategy emphasizes the rapid construction of a new power system that meets national energy development goals while ensuring the flexibility and reliability of power supply.
As of now, the total installed capacity for new energy sources has reached 692.23 million kilowatts, with automatic generation control systems achieving 100% reliability. The integration of renewable energy sources into the grid is progressing steadily.
During the development of the unified resource network, the State Grid Corporation has strengthened its services by diversifying its offerings, including energy management solutions for end-users, enhancing the distribution of electric power, and integrating electric vehicles into the grid to optimize load management.
In the winter of 2024, peak electricity consumption is expected to reach 1,339 million kilowatts. The corporation aims to ensure grid stability during this peak period by effectively managing demand and supply.
As part of its new energy strategy, the State Grid is also developing a platform for facilitating energy transactions, which enhances the efficiency of energy distribution and allows for real-time monitoring and control. This platform has already connected with 64 clients, accumulating a total capacity of 16.606 million kilowatts.
The platform is designed to integrate various energy sources and facilitate efficient energy management, ensuring a stable and responsive power supply. The State Grid Corporation’s efforts are focused on establishing a robust grid management system that combines advanced technologies with sustainable energy practices.
Looking forward, the State Grid aims to leverage advancements in energy technology to support the transition to a cleaner and more efficient energy system. This includes ongoing investments in renewable energy projects and initiatives aimed at reducing carbon emissions.
