Gotion High-Tech’s Star Era ES Extended Range Model Supports Chery’s High-End New Energy Strategy
On March 10, Chery’s high-end brand, Exeed, announced the official launch of the all-new Star Era ES extended range hybrid model. As the core battery supplier for this model, Gotion High-Tech leverages its advanced battery technology to provide high-performance battery solutions, further deepening its strategic partnership with Chery Automobile.
Seven Key Advantages of the Battery Pack Empower Chery to Achieve Exceptional Hybrid Range
The Star Era ES extended range model represents a significant entry for Chery’s Exeed brand into the C-Class high-end extended range coupe market. With the collaborative development of the “Kunpeng Battery” alongside Gotion High-Tech, this model showcases outstanding performance and exceptional cost-effectiveness. The newly launched Star Era ES extended range model is equipped with a complete series of battery packs developed by Gotion’s R&D team. The team achieved seven core advantages for the battery pack through innovative structural designs, big data technology applications, and raw material optimization:
- Rapid Charging: Supports quick energy replenishment, achieving an 80% charge from 20% in just 17.5 minutes, providing the fastest charging efficiency in its class.
- Extended Range: Offers an impressive 1645 km range, the highest among hybrid models in its category.
- Wide Temperature Range: Capable of functioning in extreme cold down to -35℃.
- Water Resistance: The battery pack is waterproof to a standard that exceeds 96 times national requirements.
- Heat Resistance: The battery pack prevents thermal diffusion.
- Impact Resistance: The bottom of the battery pack is protected by 1300 MPa ultra-high strength hot-formed steel and has passed 31 safety tests that far exceed industry standards, achieving an impact resistance level 60 times greater than national standards.
- High Voltage Protection: Ensures rapid disconnection of high voltage during driving and charging in milliseconds.
Deepening Cooperation: A Strong Alliance for Carbon Neutrality
Gotion High-Tech and Chery Automobile have a long-standing partnership, beginning their collaboration in 2012 to explore applications of new energy products. In 2018, Gotion’s batteries were first installed in Chery’s Cowin model, and in 2019, both parties signed a strategic cooperation agreement that led to large-scale battery pack deliveries for the Chery Little Ant model. By 2021, Gotion’s batteries were designated for Chery’s Dolphin project, enabling bulk supply for popular models such as the QQ Ice Cream. In 2022, their collaboration intensified, achieving an annual installation volume of over 130,000 units, reflecting a growth of over 220% compared to the previous year.
In January 2024, Gotion High-Tech and Chery Automobile signed a strategic cooperation agreement to collaborate comprehensively in the passenger and commercial vehicle sectors, jointly expanding the new energy vehicle market. Currently, Gotion High-Tech supplies battery systems for Chery’s four passenger car brands: Chery, Exeed, Jetour, and iCAR, accounting for over 40% of installations. Notably, in the hybrid segment, Gotion’s installation share for Chery vehicles has reached 60% in 2024. Due to this solid cooperation foundation, Gotion High-Tech was awarded the Outstanding Supplier Award by Chery in late 2024, being the only battery manufacturer to receive this honor. With the simultaneous release of the Star Era ET, both companies have further ventured into the extended range domain. The launch of the Star Era ES extended range model is a significant milestone in their strategic cooperation.
Looking ahead, both companies have planned more collaborations on high-end models, which are currently progressing rapidly and will soon be introduced to the market. In addition to Chery, Gotion High-Tech is also collaborating with several other top 10 automotive manufacturers, including Changan, Leap Motor, and Geely, to develop extended range products.
