Zhengmei Group’s Yongyao Energy Storage Project Successfully Energized

On March 20, after 100 days of intensive work, Zhengmei Group’s Yongyao 33.3 MW/100 MWh energy storage project successfully overcame various challenges and passed all tests, demonstrating that all indicators met the required standards for a successful initial energization.

Zhengzhou Yongyao Green Energy Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Zhengmei Group, was established in November 2023. In line with the strategic plans of Zhengmei Group, it focuses on the development of “integrated wind-solar-storage” new energy projects, marking an important step in the group’s transformation and development.

The Yongyao Energy Company leverages resources from Zhengmei Group’s industrial buildings and rooftops, fully utilizing its internal power grid and large industrial loads based on the principle of “overall planning and implementation.” It aims to actively promote the development of new energy industries, including photovoltaic power generation, energy storage, and wind power, starting with the layout of photovoltaic projects.

The 33.3 MW/100 MWh energy storage project at Dongfeng Power Plant is the first commercial energy storage project implemented by Zhengzhou Yongyao Energy Company as part of the group’s directives. This energy storage system serves as a milestone demonstration of the group’s “integrated wind-solar-storage” initiative, providing robust assurance for Zhengmei Group’s diversified energy transition and enhancing the safety of electricity supply for mining operations. It aims to achieve economic electricity usage for Zhengmei Group’s mines and surface units through peak shaving and valley filling.

To ensure the project is completed to high standards, Zhengzhou Yongyao Green Energy Co., Ltd. meticulously planned and publicly tendered the EPC project in November last year, according to industry practices. After several rounds of competitive bidding, Pinggao Group emerged as the winner, demonstrating advantages in technological strength, competitive pricing, and ease of maintenance, securing a turnkey project that includes design, construction, and equipment supply.

Completing the engineering design, equipment manufacturing, and civil construction within a limited timeframe was no small feat. Pinggao Group formulated a detailed advancement plan focusing on key project milestones, ensuring that all daily tasks were completed on schedule and that work would not cease until tasks were finished. To expedite progress, team members from design, equipment manufacturing, technical, and civil engineering voluntarily worked through holidays, significantly advancing the construction schedule.

Particularly on February 26, when all equipment installation was completed, installation teams worked late into the night despite adverse weather conditions, including rain and snow. They maintained a rigorous schedule, with crews working overtime daily to meet deadlines. At various critical milestones, leaders from Pinggao Group’s energy storage division were present on-site to guide operations and resolve any issues, boosting the morale of the onsite team and reinforcing their determination to overcome challenges.

On March 13, during a crucial installation phase, technical leaders worked alongside construction personnel, sharing meals and schedules, remaining focused on problem-solving while ensuring safety measures were effectively implemented to prevent accidents.

Pinggao Group’s commitment to addressing user concerns and facilitating the project’s rapid connection to the grid received unanimous praise from stakeholders.

About the CIES 2025 Energy Storage Conference

The CIES 2025 Energy Storage Conference is jointly organized by the Energy Storage Applications Branch of the China Chemical and Physical Power Industry Association, China Energy Storage Network, and Digital Energy Storage Network, with academic support from the Expert Committee of the Energy Storage Applications Branch. The conference will feature sessions on topics such as integration of intelligent distribution networks with new storage technologies, coordinated development of new power systems and energy storage, international energy storage, power auxiliary services, and many more.

During the conference, several research outcomes will be released, including the “2025 White Paper on the Development of China’s New Energy Storage Industry,” the “2025 White Paper on the Development of Industrial Green Microgrids,” and the “2025 Analysis Report on Tendering and Pricing in the New Energy Storage Industry.” It is expected to attract over 60,000 participants and more than 1,000 enterprises from government agencies, research institutions, power grid companies, and other sectors.

As a leading indicator for the high-quality development of the energy storage industry, the China International Energy Storage Conference and Exhibition (CIES) has facilitated over 500 billion yuan in domestic and international supply chain cooperation since its inception in 2011, while assisting local governments in securing project investments exceeding 100 billion yuan.

This year’s exhibition will include various zones showcasing energy storage system integration, power generation groups, electrical equipment, thermal control equipment, control systems, energy storage batteries, testing and certification, and safety products. The event will focus on cutting-edge technologies and practices in the energy storage sector, fostering communication between governments and enterprises, and exploring new pathways for high-quality development within the industry.

We welcome you to participate in the 15th China International Energy Storage Conference and Exhibition 2025.
