Yuneng Technology: 15 Years of Innovation Leading the Energy Transformation in Solar and Storage Solutions

Yuneng

Yuneng Technology has made significant strides in the renewable energy sector over the past 15 years, establishing itself as a leader in the photovoltaic (PV) and energy storage market. Founded in 2010 in Jiaxing, Zhejiang, the company has expanded its reach to over 150 countries, with 9 subsidiaries worldwide, 5 global warehouse centers, and 4 smart production bases. This journey exemplifies a commitment to “technology-driven innovation and global expansion.”

As Yuneng celebrates its 15th anniversary, it reflects on a journey filled with both challenges and achievements. The company was established during a time when the global photovoltaic industry was just beginning to gain momentum due to supportive policies and a shift towards sustainable energy. However, at that time, core technologies were predominantly held by foreign companies. The founding team of Yuneng recognized the potential of micro-inverter technology, which offers high safety, efficiency, and ease of installation, making it an ideal choice for distributed PV systems. Despite low market awareness and numerous technical challenges, the team persevered with unwavering determination.

Over the years, Yuneng has evolved from a small startup into a globally recognized provider of comprehensive distributed energy solutions, demonstrating its commitment to technological innovation and keen insight into industry transformations.

Continuous Technological Innovation

Since its inception, Yuneng has consistently focused on research and development, overcoming various technical challenges and launching a series of groundbreaking products that shape industry trends. The company has made significant advancements in micro-inverter technology, achieving breakthroughs in efficiency and adaptability. Key product developments include:

  • In 2013, Yuneng introduced the world’s first dual-body single-phase micro-inverter, YC500, and the first three-phase micro-inverter, YC1000.
  • In 2017, the company launched the YC600 multi-body micro-inverter, designed for smart grid operations.
  • The DS3 series, introduced in 2021, features a large current design accommodating 670W high-power components, significantly reducing the cost per watt compared to earlier models.
  • The QT2D three-phase micro-inverter was developed for industrial applications, designed to minimize high-voltage shock risks while improving power quality.

In the realm of component-level disconnectors, Yuneng has established a strong presence with its APsmart brand, launching the RSD-S, compliant with SunSpec standards, making it the second company globally to master this technology. In 2021, it released the RSD-D, the industry’s first dual-body component-level disconnector capable of handling input currents up to 20A, enhancing safety by allowing rapid shutdown of components in emergencies. This series has achieved over 4.5 million units shipped globally, earning international certifications such as SunSpec, CSA, FCC, and TÜV.

Building a Synergistic Ecosystem

In response to the challenges posed by distributed energy resources, Yuneng has been developing energy storage technologies since 2020. Its ELS and ELT inverter series utilize AC coupling technology, integrating low-voltage batteries with micro-inverters to create flexible “solar + storage” systems. The ELS-5K inverter, for instance, employs intelligent scheduling algorithms to optimize electricity costs, addressing the challenges of green energy supply for households.

Yuneng’s strategic approach is driven by a dual focus on domestic and international markets, aiming to create an integrated ecosystem for solar, storage, and charging solutions. The company has engaged in several large-scale PV projects, contributing to national energy transition goals and forming strategic partnerships with renowned energy firms in China. Projects such as the storage initiatives with Meishan Steel and Nanjing Steel have led to a total installed capacity exceeding 1GWh by 2024.

On the global front, Yuneng serves clients in over 150 countries and has established subsidiaries in key markets such as the Netherlands, France, and Australia. It has developed localized distribution and service networks, providing round-the-clock support and multilingual training to enhance customer satisfaction. The company has also received the “Top Inverter Brand Award” from EUPD Research for six consecutive years, bolstering its brand reputation in Europe and Latin America.

In October 2024, Yuneng successfully secured a project to convert a hydropower station into a photovoltaic plant in Southeast Asia, marking its first venture into emerging overseas markets.

Aiming for New Horizons

As it stands at this significant milestone, Yuneng Technology is committed to its original mission, with innovation as its core driving force. The company has secured a total of 178 intellectual property rights, including 89 invention patents, a leading figure in the industry. By outsourcing production processes, Yuneng has redirected resources toward R&D, with over 54% of its workforce dedicated to continuous innovation in micro-inverter technology.

Having grown from a supplier of component-level power devices to a comprehensive provider of distributed energy solutions, Yuneng has made remarkable contributions to the photovoltaic industry. Looking ahead, the company will continue to prioritize technological innovation, market demand, and customer satisfaction, striving for greater heights and contributing significantly to carbon peak and carbon neutrality goals while advancing towards a smart energy future.
