Tonghui Energy made its global debut by presenting a new solar storage solution aimed at driving an energy revolution with “1 kilowatt-hour” of electricity. The 15th China International Clean Energy Expo kicked off today at the National Conference Center in Beijing, where Tonghui Energy held its industry premiere. The company introduced a photovoltaic + storage system solution with an immersive product experience and a commitment to universal energy accessibility. The launch also initiated the “1 kilowatt-hour Lights Up Hope” global public welfare program, prompting deep discussions within the industry regarding the contextual application of solar storage technologies.
During the event, Tonghui Energy’s General Manager and founder, Li Dong, shared a poignant experience from his business trip to Africa, where even a four-star hotel in Johannesburg faced power outages, highlighting that many areas still lack access to electricity. This statement set the tone for the conference, focusing on how Chinese manufacturing and solutions can address global energy shortages. With 18 years of experience in the photovoltaic sector, having worked at Trina Solar and JA Solar, Li presented compelling industry insights: there are still 750 million people worldwide without electricity, and even high-end hotels in South Africa experience regular blackouts. As China produces over 90% of global photovoltaic modules and as battery storage costs continue to decline, Tonghui Energy is well-positioned to implement its “technology for all” entrepreneurial strategy.
Transitioning from a comfortable corporate executive role in a billion-dollar company to an entrepreneur, Li is driven by the mission of “sharing sunshine,” which reflects the core philosophy of the brand he founded, SUNSHARE POWER. He expressed his commitment to making solar products simpler, more convenient, and affordable, ensuring that users can easily utilize them regardless of their location.
Unlike traditional equipment integrators, Tonghui Energy emphasizes a “scene revolution” as its core concept, building differentiated competitive advantages through three strategies:
- Technological Innovation and Integration: The company has developed an integrated BIPV (Building Integrated Photovoltaics) manufacturing process, allowing solar panels to function as roofing materials, thus overcoming the integration challenges between photovoltaic components and building structures.
- Productizing Scene Solutions: Tonghui has launched four application scene solutions, including BIPV solar roofs, solar charging canopies, balcony photovoltaic systems, and home green power systems, catering to commercial, domestic, and charging station needs while providing system-level services that combine “photovoltaics, storage, and heat pumps.”
- B2B Platform Operations: Leveraging China’s supply chain advantages, Tonghui Energy offers a one-stop service for equipment, engineering, procurement, and maintenance to global clients.
Additionally, the company has unveiled a series of portable power products, including a 1 kWh model that supports charging with 200W flexible panels, targeting areas without electricity and outdoor usage, showcasing its capability to cover all scenarios from home to wilderness.
Looking ahead, Tonghui Energy aims to maximize the value of every ray of sunshine. With the dual carbon goals driving the industry and the backdrop of technological innovation coupled with capacity integration, Tonghui’s “integrated building photovoltaics” strategy is well-timed. Domestically, there is an increasing demand for distributed electricity, especially in rural areas needing diversified energy solutions to reduce electricity costs. On a global scale, nearly one-tenth of the world’s population lives in areas without electricity. Therefore, from its inception, Tonghui Energy has established localized teams in countries like Africa and Pakistan, with a goal to reach one million households without electricity within three years, ensuring that Chinese solar storage technology benefits more underserved regions.
Notably, Tonghui Energy has already formed cooperative intentions with several projects along the Belt and Road Initiative, with solar storage demonstration projects expected to launch by Q2 2025.
In a commitment to social responsibility, Tonghui Energy introduced the “1 kilowatt-hour Lights Up Hope” global program, which aims to:
- Donate 100 sets of 1 kWh solar storage equipment by 2025, with a target to provide basic electricity to one million households within three years.
- Establish an independent public welfare account starting in H2 2025, allocating 1% of revenues from underdeveloped countries to local welfare initiatives, with a priority on the “1 kilowatt-hour Lights Up Hope” program.
This model, which deeply intertwines business expansion with social responsibility, is a first in the domestic renewable energy sector. Tonghui Energy not only showcased its robust technological capabilities and high standards but also sent a clear signal of its global intentions. As Li concluded his speech with an inspiring call to action: “Shining together with customers, employees, shareholders, partners, and the world, let’s join hands to create a bright and sustainable future!”
