31.27%! SolaEon Sets New World Record with All-Perovskite Tandem Solar Cell

After a brief interval of one and a half months, SolaEon has once again achieved remarkable success with its all-perovskite tandem solar cells. Recently, the company received official certification from the National Photovoltaic Quality Inspection Center, confirming that its all-perovskite tandem solar cell has reached a photovoltaic conversion efficiency of 31.27%. This new achievement surpasses the previous record of 30.58%, set by SolaEon in February 2025, further solidifying its position as a leader in the all-perovskite tandem technology sector worldwide.

This milestone not only exceeds the theoretical limit of 29.43% for silicon cells but also signifies the entry of all-perovskite tandem technology into a new era of high efficiency, opening up new possibilities for the industry.

SolaEon’s remarkable progress, with an increase of nearly 2 percentage points in less than a year, is not an isolated achievement. Over the past three years, SolaEon has consistently broken world records for perovskite photovoltaic cells, achieving this feat 14 times. The company has improved the efficiency of all-perovskite tandem cells three times, starting from 29.34% in May 2024, and soaring to the current 31.27% within just a year. This rapid iteration outpaces the industry average, placing SolaEon in an absolute leading position.

The swift advancements in technology are attributed to SolaEon’s dual-track research and development strategy, which focuses on “maximizing single-junction performance while achieving breakthroughs in tandem technology.” This strategy emphasizes that the optimal performance of single-junction perovskite cells is crucial for establishing a solid technical foundation for the development of all-perovskite tandem cells. The breakthroughs in all-perovskite tandem technology essentially reflect the maturity of single-junction technology.

In the realm of single-junction cells, SolaEon has developed a comprehensive technical matrix. Through sustained investment in research and development, the company has achieved significant advancements in both the efficiency and stability of perovskite single-junction cells. In the field of all-perovskite tandem cells, SolaEon has addressed complex material formulation optimization challenges. By refining material compositions, enhancing device structures, and fine-tuning fabrication processes, the company has successfully overcome numerous technical hurdles, leading to substantial efficiency improvements and breaking world records three times.

It is important to note that while all-perovskite tandem cells hold immense potential, they are still distant from commercialization. Unlike single-junction cells, all-perovskite tandem cells require precise control over the properties of two layers of perovskite, which involves complex material formulation optimization and imposes higher demands on material stability and manufacturing processes. Therefore, SolaEon is conducting high-level laboratory preparations for all-perovskite tandem technology, recognizing that successful commercialization of single-junction cells is essential for advancing all-perovskite tandem cells.

The ultimate goal of breakthroughs in “hard technology” and practical “real mass production” is to achieve industrialization. SolaEon has also demonstrated impressive speed and efficiency in this regard. On March 20, 2025, SolaEon’s new production line for 200MW perovskite photovoltaic cells in Xuzhou High-tech Zone successfully produced its first batch of 1.2m×0.6m modules. From the core equipment installation on February 20, 2025, to the completion of the production line in just 29 days, the entire construction process from the groundbreaking on November 27, 2024, to production completion took less than 4 months, setting a new industry record.

With the new benchmark of 31.27% efficiency, SolaEon is accelerating its industrialization strategy and will soon initiate plans for GW-level production lines, aiming to transition from MW to GW capacity. The company is also collaborating with partners to explore applications in photovoltaic consumer electronics, BIPV, and distributed power stations. The goal is not only to break efficiency records but also to bring innovative technologies out of the laboratory, benefiting households everywhere.

The founding team of SolaEon adheres to the principle of “starting with the end goal of industry,” which focuses on achieving the commercialization of perovskite technology. This ideology ensures that SolaEon does not become merely a “technological workshop” filled with papers and patents, but rather aims to convert cutting-edge perovskite technology into competitive market products. While pursuing technological advancement, the company remains market-oriented, striving to produce competitive perovskite photovoltaic products as its ultimate goal. SolaEon aims to become a commercialized, industrialized enterprise, following the examples of great companies like Huawei and BYD, with the aspiration that perovskite photovoltaic products will reach households, making clean energy more accessible and widespread, thus contributing positively to global energy transition and climate change mitigation.

As of now, SolaEon has broken the world record for perovskite cell efficiency 14 times consecutively. The company has topped Martin Green’s Solar Cell Efficiency Tables (64th and 65th editions) and appeared twice in the NREL’s Chart of Highest Research Efficiency for Solar Cells. It currently leads the world in four core technical metrics, whether referring to 1cm² single cells or 1200cm² large modules; whether measuring single-junction efficiency or all-perovskite tandem efficiency; and whether considering efficiency or stability, SolaEon remains the creator and holder of the current world records.
