Momenta CEO, Shen Zhiheng, stated that intelligent driving is a pivotal component of the new energy vehicle sector’s “soul.” As the industry evolves, the focus on automated driving technology has intensified, leading to significant advancements in the sector.

According to Shen, the autonomous driving sector has progressed from technological exploration to a crucial phase supported by policy backing and regulatory development. The intelligent driving capabilities of companies in this space have already achieved national significance, indicating a rapid advancement towards a new growth phase for the industry.

“This year, at the national two sessions, discussions on intelligent driving were prevalent, reflecting the industry’s keen anticipation for advancements in this area,” Shen remarked during a recent interview. He noted that the swift iteration of technological advancements, coupled with the market’s competitive dynamics, has positioned intelligent driving as a defining element in the new energy vehicle sector.

Looking ahead to 2025, the focus will shift to integrating “automated driving” with “artificial intelligence” as a primary topic of discussion. Various representatives from the automotive industry have proposed vehicles that align with these advancements, garnering considerable attention.

Shen emphasized that the automated driving sector has transitioned from a phase of technological exploration to one characterized by policy support and regulatory development, where companies in the intelligent driving space have become national key players, reflecting the rapid progress of the industry.

As a leading company in intelligent driving technology, Momenta has made significant strides in its development objectives. The company recently released its Development Report for 2024, which outlines ambitious targets.

By 2024, it is projected that the penetration rate of L2 and higher-level autonomous vehicles in China will reach 55.7%, with estimates of 65% by 2025 and potentially 90% by 2030.

This year’s national vehicle manufacturing report indicates that major automotive companies are heavily investing in autonomous driving, intelligent cockpit technologies, and green mobility solutions, reflecting a broader trend towards enhancing safety and efficiency in the industry.

Momenta’s Robotaxi project aims to meet three key milestones by 2025: the realization of fully autonomous vehicles without human intervention, the proper integration of autonomous driving capabilities, and the expansion into international markets.

Momenta has already partnered with leading companies such as Baidu, Toyota, and others to collaborate on various projects across Europe, North America, and Japan, fostering the development of intelligent driving solutions.

Despite the rapid advancements, the company acknowledges the challenges ahead, particularly in achieving a robust regulatory framework to support the widespread adoption of autonomous vehicles. The focus will be on ensuring safety standards align with technological capabilities, paving the way for broader market acceptance.

In conclusion, Shen emphasized the importance of continuous innovation in intelligent driving technology, stating, “By 2025, we envision significant advancements in intelligent systems, ensuring the safety and efficiency of autonomous vehicles in the evolving transportation landscape.”
