2025 National Hydrogen Energy Conference Opens
The 2025 National Hydrogen Energy Conference officially commenced on March 28, 2025. Organized by the China Hydrogen Energy Alliance and the China Electric Power Enterprise Federation, the conference focuses on the theme “Towards a New Green Era, Promoting Innovation and Development.” It aims to enhance the development of the hydrogen energy industry, facilitate communication and collaboration, and advocate for the transition of hydrogen energy resources.
During the conference, discussions centered on the importance of hydrogen energy in reducing carbon emissions and enhancing energy efficiency. The goal is to achieve significant carbon reduction targets while ensuring a stable energy system. By 2024, the aim is to produce 25 million tons of hydrogen annually, which is expected to account for over 50% of China’s hydrogen production by that time.
The conference also emphasized the establishment of a robust supply chain for hydrogen production, supply, and innovation, with partnerships involving national standards and certification systems.
James George highlighted that hydrogen energy has been a crucial focus for sustainable development and that collaboration is essential for advancing China’s hydrogen energy sector. Since 2003, efforts have been made to integrate hydrogen energy technology with electric vehicles, promoting innovation and technical development.
Currently, China leads the world in the production of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, which have become a significant component of the energy landscape. The conference also announced the upcoming launch of the 2025 Hydrogen Energy Special Expo, set to take place in cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, and Jiangsu.
Additional sessions during the conference will cover various specialized topics, including hydrogen energy applications, technological innovations, and the role of government in guiding these initiatives. A comprehensive report on the progress of hydrogen energy in China was also unveiled, outlining the roadmap for future developments.
The conference brought together over 1,000 participants from various sectors, including government agencies, research institutions, and industry leaders, indicating a strong commitment to advancing hydrogen energy as a key element of China’s energy strategy.
This event marks a significant step forward in China’s quest to establish a sustainable energy system that minimizes environmental impact while promoting technological advancements in the hydrogen energy sector.
