At the 2025 China Electric Vehicle Hundred People Forum, Huawei’s Director and President of Huawei Digital Energy, Hou Jinlong, stated that the electrification of commercial vehicles, primarily heavy trucks, represents the third wave of electric vehicle development. He emphasized that establishing high-quality integrated charging infrastructure for traffic and energy is crucial for accelerating this transition.

Hou further highlighted the necessity of developing megawatt-level charging infrastructure, alongside using high-capacity batteries, to expedite the electrification of heavy trucks. The megawatt-level charging products launched by Huawei feature a maximum charging current of 2400 amps and a maximum power of 1.5 megawatts, enabling a charging rate of 20 kilowatt-hours per minute. This means that in just 15 minutes, a vehicle can achieve a full charge.

He also noted that microgrids can effectively manage the impact and fluctuations that high-power charging stations impose on the grid, positioning them as a key technology to integrate electric vehicles into the new power system.
