Advantech Launches the AFE-E630 Edge Intelligent System to Accelerate Energy Management Applications in Commercial and Industrial Storage
Advantech is actively advancing its edge solutions in the new energy sector with the launch of the AFE-E630 edge system specifically designed for energy management in commercial and industrial storage. This system is powered by the Rockchip RK3568J processor, boasting a rich array of interfaces that can be flexibly expanded. It integrates an edge system software platform based on a structured microservice architecture, enabling “out-of-the-box deployment with worry-free development” to facilitate quick implementation of energy storage solutions.
As global energy transformation progresses, the commercial and industrial energy storage market is experiencing rapid growth. Energy management plays a crucial role in ensuring stable power supply and effective energy utilization. Through data collection and real-time monitoring, energy devices can be managed uniformly, helping users operate efficiently.
Robust Design with Multiple Interfaces
The AFE-E630, utilizing the Rockchip RK3568J processor, supports 1 TOPS NPU processing power, catering to low to mid-level computing needs at the edge. Its compact size and industrial-grade design ensure stable operation in harsh environments with a wide operating temperature range of -40 to 70°C and a wide voltage input of 9-30V DC.
In edge intelligent systems for commercial and industrial storage, connectivity to various devices is essential, making a variety of interfaces crucial. The AFE-E630 includes 2 x RS232/R485, 1 x CAN FD, and 6 GPIO ports, with flexible expansion options through UIO, supporting up to 4 x RS485, 2 x RS232, 2 x CAN FD, 8 x DI, and 8 x DO. Depending on application requirements, users can choose between isolated and non-isolated interface designs. Additionally, it supports optional 4G, GPS, Wi-Fi, BT, NVME, and SD for versatile applications.
Ready-to-Use Software Platform for Easy Development
The AFE-E630 comes with the AIM-Linux software platform, designed for commercial and industrial storage applications. Built on a structured microservices architecture, it provides a pre-integrated development environment and a full-stack toolchain, allowing for “plug-and-play deployment and hassle-free development.” The platform includes a suite of industrial protocols (supporting OPC UA, Modbus, IEC-104, and more) and a visual low-code configuration interface, enabling users to quickly develop applications for data collection, device management, and energy efficiency optimization. It also supports access to standard EMS core management services and data interfaces, allowing users to design and customize specific business logic to meet diverse energy management service strategies.
Comprehensive Embedded Design Services
Advantech not only offers high-performance, reliable energy storage systems but also provides customers with full lifecycle services, including initial testing and validation, industry certification, and ongoing operational support. To meet the safety and stability requirements of commercial and industrial users, the AFE-E630 has received CE, FCC Class B, and CCC certifications, ensuring efficient system operation. Furthermore, the open software platform allows customers to develop their own solutions, enabling rapid project migration and customization.
Case Study
A particular energy technology company needed to establish a photovoltaic storage project, including a 100 KW/200 KWh energy storage system. The EMS system serves as the core of the entire setup, managing device monitoring, energy management, and fault alerts. This project ultimately adopted the Advantech AFE-E630 energy management system solution, collecting real-time data from energy-related devices such as meters, fans, and air conditioners, achieving interoperability between different devices. Based on the AIM-Linux platform, it enabled remote bulk deployment, OTA updates, and fault diagnosis, thereby reducing maintenance costs.
