Qingdao

On March 26, a grand inauguration ceremony was held at the Qingdao International Conference Center for the establishment of the Qingdao Green Energy Industry Alliance. This initiative aims to integrate resources within Qingdao’s green energy sector, create a comprehensive platform for cooperation across the entire industry chain, and promote high-quality development in the green energy industry. Nearly 300 representatives from over 200 enterprises, research institutions, and financial organizations related to green energy across the country attended the event.

The ceremony was graced by the presence of Qingdao’s Deputy Mayor and the head of the Qingdao Green Energy Industry Task Force, Gan Hongjin, who officiated the unveiling of the alliance. Bian Cheng, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Director of the Qingdao Development and Reform Commission, delivered a congratulatory speech on behalf of the task force.

Representatives from major member organizations, including Dongfang Electric, Three Gorges Group, China Huadian Corporation, and the Qingdao branch of Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, made statements expressing their commitment to the alliance. The meeting was presided over by Liu Kai, a member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy Director of the Qingdao Development and Reform Commission, who also serves as the office director for the task force.

During the meeting, the Qingdao Green Energy Industry Alliance was officially launched, alongside the establishment of two sub-alliances: the Qingdao Hydrogen Energy Development Promotion Alliance and the Qingdao Solid-State Battery Industry Alliance. Participating enterprises unanimously signed the Qingdao Green Energy Industry Collaborative Development Joint Commitment and showcased their products and technologies related to offshore wind power technology, seawater desalination hydrogen production technology, subsea cables, hydraulic pitch control, and the Blue Ocean Green Loan financial brand.

The alliance’s roadmap was introduced, with Dongfang Electric Group taking on the role of chairman. The Three Gorges Group’s Shandong Branch will serve as the chain leader, while Huaneng Shandong Branch, Huadian Shandong Branch, China National Petroleum Corporation Marine Engineering (Qingdao), Qingdao Baojian Technology, Qingdao Hancable Co., Ltd., and Qingdao Pangu Intelligent will serve as vice chairpersons. The Qingdao branch of ICBC will act as the vice-secretary unit, with over 200 member enterprises currently involved in the alliance.

The meeting highlighted the promising prospects of the green energy industry, noting that Qingdao has incorporated it into the city’s “10+1” innovative industrial system. A dedicated task force has been established, with the Qingdao Development and Reform Commission leading the initiative to form the alliance. The primary objective of this collaboration is to foster sincere cooperation among enterprises, promote healthy development within the industry alliance, and leverage the platform for mutual benefit and innovation.

Furthermore, the establishment of the alliance represents a significant milestone in the development of Qingdao’s green energy sector and is a crucial step towards achieving high-quality growth in this industry. As Qingdao transitions from land-based to marine green energy initiatives, the dedicated task force will fully support the alliance’s growth by assisting enterprises with market access, funding, and resources throughout their development lifecycle.

The meeting concluded with a call for alliance members to enhance resource sharing, promote innovation, and pursue collaborative growth for mutual benefit. Members like Dongfang Electric are encouraged to serve as a “national team” for energy equipment manufacturing, creating strong connections between government, businesses, research institutions, and financial sectors. This collective effort aims to establish a complete and technologically advanced green energy equipment industry cluster, enhancing Qingdao’s position within the global green energy industry chain and establishing it as a major hub for offshore wind energy in Northern China.
