On March 26, 2025, the National Hydrogen Energy Conference will kick off, organized by the China Hydrogen Energy Alliance and the China Electric Power Association. The conference will focus on the theme of “Towards a New Green Era, Innovating for a Sustainable Future,” aiming to foster collaboration in the hydrogen energy industry and promote the sustainable development of hydrogen energy.

The National Energy Administration will highlight the important role of hydrogen energy in achieving carbon neutrality and building a high-efficiency energy system. The event will also discuss strategies for carbon reduction and emphasize the significance of transitioning to a low-carbon economy.

By 2024, the goal is to produce 25 million tons of renewable hydrogen annually, with China aiming for a 50% increase in hydrogen production capacity. This will contribute to the overall development of the hydrogen energy sector and promote innovation.

During this period, China will also strengthen the hydrogen production supply chain, enhance collaboration among stakeholders, and work towards building a national hydrogen certification system to facilitate the development of clean hydrogen energy.

James George emphasized that the long-term goal for hydrogen energy should focus on sustainable development, and the alliance should work towards enhancing support for the hydrogen energy sector in China.

Since 2003, the alliance has collaborated with the Ministry of Science and Technology and the China Hydrogen Energy Alliance to promote the development of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, fostering innovation in technology and industrial practices.

Currently, China is home to the world’s largest hydrogen fuel cell vehicle and hydrogen infrastructure projects, reflecting the significant advancements in this sector.

The conference will officially commence with a focus on specialized topics in hydrogen energy, including applications and technological advancements. A range of stakeholders, including government officials, industry leaders, and experts, will participate, with over 1,000 attendees expected.

As part of the agenda, there will be discussions on various projects, including renewable energy production and hydrogen energy utilization, emphasizing the importance of collaboration across various sectors to achieve common goals.

The conference will also feature expert panels and discussions on policies, technological innovations, and collaborative efforts in the hydrogen energy sector, aiming to enhance China’s position in the global hydrogen market.

In conclusion, the conference represents a significant step towards advancing hydrogen energy initiatives in China and establishing a robust framework for future developments in this promising field.
